God Is Good Even When Life Sucks!
I think we all would agree that trusting God is easy when life is going well, or at least when things are relatively comfortable. But where is our trust in God when the world seems to be falling apart around us? The troubles we face today, although not unique over the span of human history, will surely be discussed in the history books of future generations. COVID-19, the war in Ukraine, the Black Lives Matter movement, record inflation, and much more have caused emotional and physical stress in the lives of nearly everyone. We all have friends and family who may, or may not, have been infected with the coronavirus. But whether they have or have not, they, like us, are still being deeply affected by the resulting economic effects. Job loss, loss of income from business closures, and the overwhelming increase in the cost of living resulting from supply chain issues have caused many to slip into bouts of depression and fear. We find ourselves faced with the very real danger of death with the coronavirus and the hard place of being without a job to provide for the necessities of life.
As Christians, we have the ability to trust in God in the good times and bad because we know God’s love never fails. His plan for us is great, and He has the ability to always bring good out of every situation. We gain clarity and discernment by praising Him and giving Him thanks even through the trying times, and we are reminded that God really is good all the time. Life is hard, even when you’re a Christian. Even when you try to love God with all your heart, bad things will happen, and we will often experience terrible things.
Life is challenging when you get confronted with difficult situations. However, God does not expect you to bear tuft situations alone. He wants us to turn to Him; because He is the only one who can get us out of our difficulties.
Every Christian wants to trust in God during these troubled times. But, when the realities of life circumstances surround us, it is difficult to do. Trusting in God becomes hard and uncomfortable, but it will never be foolish. It takes a lot to trust in God to be the foundation of your life when it honestly feels like life sucks.
We need to always remember that God has a plan for our lives on earth. However, that plan does not equate to a 100% wonderful existence. Our lives on earth will be trying, difficult, sometimes tragic, and sometimes almost unbearable. But, our lives will also often be sprinkled with lots of great times, truly amazing and awe-inspiring experiences, and love. And all of these things, good and bad, bring glory to God, can help us know Him more, can bring us to our knees, and can take us sailing to heights we’ve never known before. Our human existence is a roller coaster of fear, doubt, happiness, pain, fun, beauty, anger, grace, mercy, anguish, and brokenness. God gives wonderful moments. But we need to know life on earth isn’t always wonderful. Sometimes it sucks! #GodIsGoodEvenWhenLifeSucks
