The Joy, Challenge and Satisfaction of Puzzling
It had been more than 30 years since I attempted to put a jigsaw puzzle together. During this passage of time, I had forgotten just how challenging and time-consuming it is to assemble a 1,000-piece puzzle. However, I love a challenge. I mentioned to my wife how much I use to like putting puzzles together when I was young, and on my 70th birthday in February, she presented me with the 1,000-piece puzzle pictured in this blog. During February, we spent more than 30 hours working towards completing it.
Completing jigsaw puzzles can be considered a complete brain exercise. Not only is it fun and challenging, but it requires visual-spatial reasoning, attention to detail, and problem-solving ability. Nothing beats the satisfaction of completing the journey. This is an excellent way for an individual, or individuals, to step away from all the distractions, troubles, and trials in life, or simply for family members to come together to work on a central goal! I truly enjoyed the time my wife and I spent on this month-long journey. Looking forward to our next puzzle!
