This large and highly detailed cameo depicts Moses holding the Ten Commandments which are inscribed and readable in the Hebrew language. Moses was an early leader of the Hebrews and probably the most important figure in Judaism. He was raised in the court of the Pharaoh in Egypt, but then led the Hebrew people out of Egypt. Moses is said to have talked with God. His story is told in the Bible in the book of Exodus.
The select gemstone from which this cameo was carved, when held or exposed to daylight, has a bluish hue.
This is a one-of-a-kind heirloom-quality cameo was carved by a Master Carver who's family roots as stone carvers date back to the 16th century.
