Jonette Jewelry, also known by its trademark JJ, originated in the early 1940s in Providence, Rhode Island. This was a period when Providence was known as the “jewelry capital of the world,” and Jonette Jewelry emerged as a unique and innovative player in this industry. The company was named after the two sons of the original founders, combining the names “Jon” and “Ette” to become Jonette.

From the early days, Jonette Jewelry was distinct in its style and design, often breaking away from trends to create unique costume jewelry. The company is known for crafting pieces that were artistically imaginative and boldly creative. Their collections included animals, Christmas themes, oriental designs and many more.

The jewelry was not just about aesthetics but was also designed to tell a story, evoke an emotion or carry a message. This clever strategy allowed them to connect deeply with their customers and turned their pieces into conversation starters.

Despite its success and popularity Jonette Jewelry couldn't escape the economic pressures of the late 20th century. Rising costs, increased competition, and a shifting market climate led to the closure of Jonette Jewelry in 2006.

In retrospect, Jonette Jewelry was more than just a jewelry company. It was a symbol of innovation, creativity, and a testament to the ability of a business to connect with its customers beyond a simple transaction. The closure of Jonette marked the end of an era but the legacy of its uniquely crafted pieces continues to live on, cherished by collectors and vintage jewelry enthusiasts worldwide.

All the pieces of Jonette Jewelry are c1940-2006.
